Scottsdale, Ariz (PRWEB) July 27, 2011
JDA® Software Group, Inc. (NASDAQ: JDAS), The Supply Chain Company®, today announced that it will co-host a complimentary webinar with Capgemini and in conjunction with Consumer Goods Technology on Wednesday, Aug, 3 at 2 p.m. EDT entitled “Connecting at the Shelf: New Ways Consumer Products Manufacturers and Retailers Are Collaborating to Connect Their Supply Chains to the Shelf.”
The webinar will feature industry experts and shelf collaboration thought leaders Fred Baumann, vice president of industry strategies, JDA Software, and Ben Pivar, vice president and North American supply chain lead at Capgemini. Baumann and Pivar will outline the key capabilities needed to build a shelf-connected supply chain, as well as highlight real-world examples of customers who have achieved this ultimate goal. Attendees will gain a better understanding of the benefits of a shelf-connected supply chain, including:
- Synchronized demand and supply plans between retailers and consumer products manufacturers
- Accurate demand signals driven from the point of purchase
- Optimized local market assortments and planograms for each retail store
- Reduced network inventories and increased on-shelf availability
- Increased insights into the effectiveness of trade promotions, consumer marketing activities, seasonality, new products introductions and supply plans with near real-time analysis capabilities
“Trends in the consumer products world are emerging at an accelerated pace, driven by the new digitally connected and empowered consumer. To capitalize on rapidly changing buying behaviors, retailers and consumer products manufacturers must collaborate differently than they have in the past. They must quickly respond to consumer choices at the shelf and across all buying channels,” said Baumann. “Doing this effectively requires new processes that connect the shelf (or virtual shelf) to the entire supply chain to: develop localized assortments, shorten cycle times, set profitable flow strategies, reduce inventories, reduce costs and improve on shelf availability. This has prompted the emergence of a new trend: the shelf-connected supply chain.”
“Driven by the need to serve customers in the best way at the lowest cost, manufacturers and retailers are embracing collaborative planning at the shelf,” said Pivar. “This requires a new breed of technology that can cost-effectively scale to handle the vast amounts of data captured at the point of purchase to drive millions of decisions.”
