Vault Solutions, LLC's tool allows end users of Enterprise Vault to search the Journal Archive for messages which they sent or received, preview them and/or restore them to their mailbox.

The ability for end users to search the Journal Archive is an often requested enhancement to Enterprise Vault. This tool makes migrating to EV an easier choice for organizations who have this feature in their current archiving environment.

Vault Solutions LLC (http://www.vault-solutions.com), a leader in specialized solutions and enhancements for Symantec's Enterprise Vault™, is announcing the general availability of it's End User Search and Restore product. This tool allows end users to search for and restore their messages from their company's Enterprise Vault Journal archive.

Prior to this product, a user who wanted to search for a message that had been deleted from their mailbox would have had to contact their IT department to search the journal for the message on their behalf. Enterprise Vault's lack of this feature is a surprise for some customers migrating from other archiving platforms, such as EMC EmailXtender.

Enterprise Vault is the industry leader in email archiving. A Journal Archive keeps a copy of every message that is sent or received from a company's email server. Enterprise Vault does not have a built-in method to search a limited subset of this journal, so access to it is typically limited to IT and legal departments.

Vault Solution's End User Search and Restore can be installed on a customer's Enterprise Vault server. End users access it through a Silverlight GUI in a web browser, and a shortcut to the tool can optionally be installed on users' Outlook toolbar. Searches are performed using Enterprise Vault’s existing index. Users can view the messages in a preview panel or restore the messages back to their mailbox. If mailbox archiving is enabled, search results can also include messages from the mailbox archive. This gives users a single place to search for all of their messages.
