SMX East, Sept. 13-15, 2011 Keynotes Announced

Eli Pariser and Danny Sullivan will be the keynote speakers at Search Marketing Expo - SMX East at the Jacob K. Javits Center in New York City, September 13-15. The full agenda is also now available at http://searchmarketingexpo.com/east/agenda.

Sullivan, Editor in Chief of Search Engine Land, will hold an Evening Forum on Tuesday, September 13, in which he will moderate as attendees share their thoughts, ideas, challenges and knowledge on search marketing. With the audience as the panel, it turns the traditional keynote on its head and promises to be thought-provoking and dynamic.

Eli Pariser will lead off on Wednesday, September 14 at 9 am in a keynote conversation with Search Engine Land editors Danny Sullivan and Chris Sherman.

Pariser's book, "The Filter Bubble: What the Internet is Hiding From You," examines the impact of personalization on the web, and how the information we receive online is being filtered by algorithms according to what it appears we want to read.

Reviews of The Filter Bubble:
"…a compelling deep-dive into the invisible algorithmic editing on the web, a world where we're being show more of what algorithms think we want to see and less of what we should see." -- Maria Popova, The Atlantic Monthly

"…a nuanced critique of how most of us are now getting our information: through algorithms. [Pariser's] argument is simple, elegant and spot on." -- Michael Creamer, Ad Age

“If you work in search/internet marketing and want to get a better understanding of the effects of personalization, you’ll like and probably learn from this book. If you work in a technology-related publishing job, this is a book that will hopefully make you think about the bigger picture and the dangers of page view journalism.” -- Michael Gray, Graywolf's SEO Blog

Praise for SMX East:
"My favorite thing about the show is… the fact that you learn what you aren’t doing and why you should be doing it! As a takeaway I had 5+ things that we have now started to implement to get our clients greater reach and visibility." -- Aimee Smith, Moore and Scarry Advertising

"SMX is a great digital marketing conference, covering all aspects of the digital space – despite focusing in on how to rank competitively in Search Engines. I recommend it to any one serious about marketing – especially on the web." -- Tim Eschenauer, Austin & Williams

"I love the content of the show. For most of the time slots there were more than one session I wanted to go to! Overall, speakers were great. Audience questions were great. Vendors were great. Wonderful experience!" -- Val Czamara, Eric Mower and Associates
