QImaging announces the release of the Rolera Thunder EMCCD microscopy camera, the newest generation of its high-sensitivity, low-light imaging EMCCD camera product line. QImaging is a developer and manufacturer of high-performance, easy-to-use digital cameras for life science and industrial applications.
Designed for quantitative low-light fluorescence microscopy, the Rolera Thunder is ideal for life science applications such as super resolution (STORM, PALM), single molecule fluorescence and FRAP, as well as physical science applications such as astronomy and studying Bose-Einstein condensates.
The Rolera Thunder features a back-illuminated 16 µm pixel, 512 x 512 EMCCD sensor for >90% peak quantum efficiency, low read noise (< 1e-) and high-speed (385+ fps with binning). Owing to the camera's sensitivity, very short exposure times are possible, which allows rapid data acquisition and greater temporal resolution. The ability to quantify research using the camera’s linearized EM Gain and onboard EM calibration technology circumvents the aging process, which hinders the quantification capabilities of other EM cameras.
“The Rolera Thunder offers scientists an extremely sensitive, high-performance EMCCD camera at a fraction of the cost of other available technologies. This sets a new standard for low-light imaging cameras at a price that will make this technology accessible to more scientists,” said Chris Ryan, associate product manager.
A convenient firewire interface provides customers with the ability to maximize their research with 16-bit digitization. For users needing flexibility in their set-ups, the Rolera Thunder seamlessly integrates with customized high-end OEM systems. As standard with all QImaging cameras, the Rolera Thunder is backed by an industry-leading two-year limited warranty. Each camera meets the standards of QImaging’s Product Quality Policy and is further backed by support technicians who are trained in specific applications and installation procedures.
QImaging designs and manufactures user-friendly CCD, EMCCD and CMOS cameras for life science, machine vision and OEM applications. These affordable, high-performance digital imaging solutions offer outstanding versatility, ease of use and reliability. Customers around the world use QImaging cameras to perform quantitative image analysis and acquire high-resolution images for publication. The company offers a comprehensive OEM Camera Program and maintains numerous third-party alliances with software companies and system integrators to consistently deliver imaging solutions and application-specific software that supports a broad range of bioscience and industrial applications. QImaging is headquartered in Surrey, Canada, and is a registered ISO 9001:2000 company.
