Hackensack, NJ (PRWEB) August 17, 2011

Toyota of Hackensack announced on Monday that they are currently accepting deposits for the 2012 Prius plug-in hybrid vehicle. Customers who sign up and leave a $100 deposit will be among the very first in the nation to drive a Prius plug-in.

The 2012 Toyota Prius PHV will only be offered in fifteen U.S. states. The rest of the country won't have a chance to buy the new model until 2013.

New Jersey made Toyota's cut, though few dealerships in the tri-state area will receive the initial inventory. None are offering priority registration yet, except for Bergen county dealer Toyota of Hackensack.

"We've been working with Toyota USA in order to offer our customers the Prius PHV before anyone else," says Toyota of Hackensack General Manager Fred Radulic. "Providing our customers with exclusive opportunities and making it as easy by just going online is important to us."

Radulic says that customers can now log onto the Toyota of Hackensack website, put down their deposit, and be some of the only drivers in the country with a new Prius PHV in just a few short months.

The Prius PHV (which stands for plug-in hybrid vehicle) has been in development for almost five years and just completed an extremely successful test release in the United States. It is the first plug-in Prius in history.

Already generating buzz and garnering glowing reviews, the PHV takes a more practical approach to plug-in electric vehicles. It requires no special charging station – drivers can plug it right into a standard 120 V outlet.

Once the charge runs out, the trusted Prius full-hybrid engine kicks in to provide extra power and fuel range. Even out of electric mode the 2012 Prius PHV still gets an astounding EPA estimated 51 city/48 highway MPG.

"The Prius handily outscores the Volt," says CNN Money.

Car and Driver writes, "[The Prius PHV] goes much farther and faster on electricity alone."
