Muncy, PA (PRWEB) August 10, 2011
Construction Specialties Inc. (C/S), the leading manufacturer of high-performing architectural products, announced that it now offsets 50% of the manufacturing energy used at several Pennsylvania plants with renewable wind power. In addition to offsetting its Acrovyn® wall protection production, it also purchases renewable energy for its production of both expansion joint covers and Pedisystems® entrance flooring systems. The purchase of these Green-e certified renewable energy certificates provides direct support to the wind energy industry and is helping to expand the production of renewable energy in the US and Canada.
By voluntarily reducing its carbon footprint, C/S is making a difference in its environmental impact. Along with its use of renewable wind power, C/S has reforested 17 unused acres and partners with organizations and corporations concerned about the environment, such as Safer Chemicals Healthy Families and Green Guide for Healthcare™.
C/S has been recognized by numerous groups for its environmental efforts. Recently it was presented with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (Mid-Atlantic Region) Environmental Achievement award. C/S also received the PA Governor’s Award for Environmental Excellence, was a finalist in The Nature Conservancy’s Investing in Nature award and has been honored by Practice Greenhealth with its Champion for Change award for three consecutive years.
Seeing its efforts to improve the environment as a journey, C/S continually upgrades its manufacturing processes and products for efficiency and healthy material chemistry. As a result, several of its product lines have received MBDC Cradle to Cradle® Gold and Silver Certification.
