Reed Construction Data (RCD) today announced the appointment of Dr. Bernard M. Markstein as the new Chief Economist, RCD, U.S.

Well known for his work as Senior Economist and Vice President of Economic Forecasting and Analysis for the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB), Dr. Markstein has provided analysis on national and regional housing issues; tracking developments, trends in the multifamily housing market and forces affecting building materials prices.

With extensive interview experience in TV, radio and print media, Dr. Markstein has appeared on Bloomberg TV, CNBC, Fox Business News, and Nightly Business Report (PBS); including quotes in New York Times, Business Week and the Wall Street Journal.

Among his professional activities, Dr. Markstein is past Chair for the Financial Roundtable of the National Association for Business Economics (NABE). He served as Chair of the Economic Advisory Committee for the Pennsylvania Bankers Association, and is a former president of the Philadelphia Council for Business Economics. As a current member of NABE, Dr. Markstein is a contributor to the Quarterly NABE Economic Policy Survey and is also a member of the National Economists Club.

Dr. Bernard M. Markstein has a Doctorate in Economics from Yale University, and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Economics from Brown University. He succeeds Dr. Jim Haughey, who will be retiring from Reed Construction Data with tenure of over 30 years.
