“When I went to FIDM in L.A., they had a program connecting students with nearby film schools and I started doing small projects on student films,” May has said.

Top Hollywood costume designer Mona May has kept herself busy on the hottest film sets around the globe since graduating from FIDM/Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising. Her most current film, Zookeeper starring Kevin James, Rosario Dawson, and Leslie Bibb, is in theaters now. “I’ve always been interested in fashion – I was re-styling my mom and organizing her closet and telling everyone what to wear and how to put it together when I was a child,” May has said.

The Los Angeles resident is currently working on the much anticipated film, American Reunion (a follow up to the American Pie movies), and just completed Vamps, which reunites her with director Amy Heckerling and actress Alicia Silverstone – the trio worked together on the iconic fashion film Clueless. Her other credits include Enchanted, The House Bunny, Never Been Kissed, and The Wedding Singer.

“When I went to FIDM in L.A., they had a program connecting students with nearby film schools and I started doing small projects on student films,” May has said. “I found the process fascinating, because you’re not only bringing in fashion, but you’re diving into the script and its characters and creating something deeper.”
