Schipul’s Katie Laird to Speak on Blogging Fundamentals at First “20 Something Blogger” Summit

Katie Laird, the Communications Director for Schipul - The Web Marketing Company (http://www.schipul.com), will participate in the panel discussion, “Laying the Foundation and Creating a Community Around Your Blog,” at the inaugural 20SBsummit.

The event, which attracts bloggers and brands interested in connecting with the blogging community, is scheduled August 19-21 in Chicago.

Blogging has been part of the online landscape in various forms for 17 years, making it the senior citizen of social media. In fact, many of the 20-something bloggers who participate in 20SBsummit weren’t yet in high school when blogging was gaining momentum a decade ago. Bloggers Jenn Bollenbacher and Molly Ford will join Laird on the panel to share how focusing on the fundamentals of blogging, such as finding the right niche and maintaining consistency, will get the attention of search engines, attract an audience and perhaps change the world.

“This is a fantastic opportunity for any 20-something interested in blogging to learn new skills and make valuable contacts,” said Laird. “During our panel discussion, Jenn, Molly and I will take the mystery out of how to establish a strong blog presence.”

A social media fanatic and longtime blogger, Laird writes online as “happykatie” (http://www.happykatie.com) and has been published nationally for her ideas on integrating powerful online tools into smart marketing strategies. She is a co-founder of Houston Netsquared, a group dedicated to helping nonprofits leverage online technology tools.

“Many corporate or business bloggers started out blogging about personal topics that they really care about,” added Laird. “Regardless of why someone is blogging, my strategies will enable them to use their blog as not only a personal expression tool, but also a valuable relationship-fostering communication tool for businesses or nonprofits.”

The 20SBsummit will include successful bloggers from many different backgrounds, including keynote speakers Scott Belsky, CEO of Behance Creative Network and Jenny Blake, an author and blogger featured on Forbes.com and CNN.com.
