Andrew Somoza, a successful entrepreneur who propelled Vendormate to rapid growth, has joined strategicplanningMD as vice president of sales. Somoza has a long track record of driving organizational success through direct sales, business development and channel management, taking advantage of expertise that has been developed over more than 15 years in technology service sales, both domestically and internationally.
“Andrew is a key addition to our management team,” said Scott Regan, founder and chief executive officer of strategicplanningMD, which provides strategic planning and quality management software solutions and consulting services to healthcare organizations. “We are a young company still in start-up mode and having someone with Andrew’s experience and capabilities will certainly accelerate our growth and success.”
A member of the start-up team at Vendormate, Somoza successfully led sales efforts that resulted in a customer base of 1,400 hospitals in just four years. He achieved this through bootstrapped sales management, including hiring and managing the sales team, defining and implementing sales management processes, and direct sales to key accounts. He led Vendormate and its sales team to a successful acquisition in December, 2010.
Prior to Vendormate, Somoza was the Southeast Regional Sales Manager for Lancope, an Internet security software company. He held various sales management positions with Borland Software Corporation and Starbase Corporation. Somoza is a graduate of Georgia Institute of Technology with a BS in Management.
strategicplanningMD, headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, introduced its initial web-based software application – StrategyPlanner – in July 2010. Since then, more than 60 healthcare organizations – including UF&Shands, Methodist Le Bonheur, Erlanger, and Mississippi Baptist – have adopted StrategyPlanner as its strategic planning solution, and the company has recently introduced four additional products to its software portfolio: GeoPlanner, CapacityPlanner, PerformancePlanner, and QualityManager.
