According to the National Institute of Mental Health, schizophrenia is prevalent in 1.1% of the U.S. adult population. Man has long searched for the cause and meaning of mental illnesses. Schizophrenia: The Bearded Lady Disease – Volume One (published by AuthorHouse) by J. Michael Mahoney aims to answer those questions.
Mahoney has spent 45 years investigating these problems and his conclusion is that severe unconscious bisexual conflict and gender confusion lie at the root of all mental illness, as difficult to comprehend as this idea may be.
“The disease we call ‘schizophrenia’ is but an arbitrary name, used to designate the end-stage of a process beginning with a slight neurosis,” says Mahoney. “The more severe the bisexual conflict and gender confusion in the individual, the more severe the degree of the mental illness which is experienced.”
Schizophrenia consists of 639 quotations, from a variety of sources, all of which point to the truth of his hypothesis. Mahoney tells readers this is a fixed law of nature, unassailable and constantly operative in every case. No other species but man, he says, is afflicted with mental illness because no other species has either the intellectual power to repress his or her sexual feelings or the motivation to do so.
All proceeds accruing to the author from sales of this book are being donated to the Child Hurbinek Scholarship Endowment at Princeton University, USA.
