New York, NY (PRWEB) August 16, 2011
Andaz Wall Street, the only hotel situated on Wall Street and the first Andaz property in Manhattan, announces the launch of their impromptu performance series. True to the Andaz ethos, the NYC hotel has created a series that features local, up-and-coming artists and performing arts groups. On Tuesday July 26th, the Lower Manhattan hotel began to feature a variety of performances ranging from dance ensembles to opera singers. The performances will be featured in the evenings, but are always a surprise to hotel, restaurant and bar guests.
The first performance has been choreographed and performed by Spark Movement Collective, a contemporary dance company specializing in spontaneous performances within architecturally unique spaces. Choreographer Chelsea Koenig blends graceful, classic movements with contemporary elements for the “Re-Popped” piece performed on the Wall & Water staircase at the Financial District hotel. Other recent works include “Q Up” performed on the Q train and “Pop” performed on the granite staircase in Brooklyn Bridge Park as part of the Dumbo Dance Festival.
General Manager, Toni Hinterstoisser describes the idea behind the performance series:“We pride ourselves on being close to our community and a part of the downtown neighborhood. We hope that this unique performance series will help integrate NYC’s performing arts culture with our hotel in the Financial District”.
