KatieCare Productions has just launched three new DVD/CD combo packs that teach kids how to be safe with their food allergy. The three releases include: My Peanut Allergy Video with my Safe Food Friends ™, My Milk Allergy Video with my Safe Food Friends™ and My Egg Allergy Video with my Safe Food Friends™. Recommended for ages 2 through 7, the Safe Food Friends™ will teach food allergic children what the allergic food looks like and where it comes from, some of the foods that are NOT safe snacks™ and should be avoided and foods that are safe snacks ™. The Safe Food Friends™ will teach food allergic children to never share food or snacks, to ask an adult to read the label, to ask “Is this a Safe Snack™?” and other positive learning tools.

According to the Guidelines for the Diagnosis and Management of Food Allergy in the United States, Summary for Patients, Families and Caregivers, “Not eating the allergenic food is currently the safest way to manage food allergy and prevent symptoms.” These newly created and innovative videos teach children how to recognize those foods and avoid them. The Safe Food Friends™ are kids that will show food allergic children how to be safe with fun, memorable songs and dancing. This video is a positive, can do it approach so that a child can feel empowered and lower their levels of anxiety.

Owner and Mom entrepreneur, Kathy (Holland) Martini, created these videos and songs because her own daughter is allergic to peanuts, tree nuts and eggs. “When I was looking for tools that would teach her how to be safe, I wanted something that would compliment my efforts of being positive. I didn’t find what I was looking for so I decided to create it.” Kathy reached out to educator and school play director, Beth Kingsbury-Puscas for help. Beth has severe, life-threatening food allergies and wanted to help educate children and make living with food allergies manageable and not so scary for children.

Kathy (Holland) Martini, President of KatieCare Productions LLC states that:
“These videos should be in every classroom for teachers to play for their students in preschool through 1st grade so that we can raise awareness about food allergies and keep food allergic children safe. Whether a child has a food allergy or not, they can be a Safe Food Friend™. When we start early with awareness and kindness, we will help keep our food allergic children safe and alive.”
