LAVE MD http://www.lavemd.com, based in Brentwood, TN, donates $818,000 worth of cholera treatment supplies to Mobile Medical Disaster Relief http://www.mmdr.org to assist in the ongoing cholera outbreak in Haiti. Since the cholera outbreak began on October 21,2010, some 300,000 people have been infected with this disease and about 10,000 have died. Mobile Medical Disaster Relief, a nonprofit organization, has been active in Haiti since the earthquake treating approximately 15,000 people in its clinics in the Port au Prince area.

Dr. David Vanderpool, CEO of LAVE MD, states, "The medical infrastructure in Haiti is already severely strained since the 7.0 earthquake in January of 2010 and now the cholera outbreak has worsened the situation. This donation of cholera medication should help the people of Haiti overcome this terrible disease." Active in 14 countries worldwide, Mobile Medical Disaster Relief has travelled to Haiti 19 times since the earthquake with medical teams to provide disaster relief to the Haitian people. Dr. Vanderpool says, "cholera is a disease that is spread by contaminated drinking water particularly after natural disasters. It causes massive diarrhea and typically is fatal unless it is promptly treated. With this new supply of cholera medication many lives will be saved."
