CallFire Hosts Inaugural Biz2Beach Un-Conference

On Friday, August 19, 80 business leaders from around the country assembled at the Huntley Hotel for Biz2Beach, CallFire’s first annual executive networking “un-conference.”

On Friday, August 19, 80 business leaders from around the country assembled at the Huntley Hotel for Biz2Beach, CallFire’s first annual executive networking “un-conference.” The invitation-only attendees included founders, business development leaders, and marketing directors from startups, small business, and large enterprises.

The un-conference format of Biz2Beach emphasized a small group setting which facilitated quality, engaging conversations among the participants and featured speakers: Tony Adam, Founder and CEO of Visible Factors and Eventify; Matthew Arevalo, Founder of Master Works; Garth Holsinger, VP Global Sales and Business Development for Klout; Van Jepson, CEO and Founder of GroupPrice; Krishna Subramanian, Co-Founder of Mobclix; and Robyn Ward, Director of Sales and Business Development for BetterWorks. There were four breakout sessions around topics including company culture, social media ROI, mobile advertising, and successful business partnerships. Krista Thomas, VP Marketing for adly, stated that she “really loved the casual, conversational environment.” Her sentiment was echoed by David Henzel, VP Marketing of NetDNA and longtime CallFire customer, who said, “I go to a lot of conferences, but I loved the intimate format of Biz2Beach; the ‘unconference’ is way more interactive because participants can easily steer conversation with the speaker to get the most value out of it and make deep meaningful connections.”

CallFire also used Biz2Beach to provide a sneak peek into CallFire Version 3.0, the latest iteration of its Voice and SMS messaging platform. In CallFire 3.0, improvements were made to reporting, ease of use, and back-end efficiency. CallFire customers from companies including 8x8, Amacai Solutions, and Ipsos Loyalty were among the attendees at Biz2Beach, and got to see many of their requested features in action. The CallFire founders also hosted a discussion table where they talked about being a bootstrapped company since 2004, the challenges of growth in a down economy, and new CallFire products on the horizon.

To engage a wide audience, the presentation was live-streamed by conference sponsor About 45,000 viewers tuned in to watch the discussions. “If I had not known, I would have never guessed that this was CallFire’s first conference,” said Efren Toscano, Founder and CEO of TechZulu. “This is definitely on top of my list of conferences to attend again next year.” Other event sponsors included Audiobahn, Auntie Fruf’s Aahsome Fudge, Elevate My Brand, Knock Knock, Macanudo, Old Tom Foolery, Pretzel Crisps, Startup Digest, and talkTECH Communications.

After a closing discussion, guests of Biz2Beach moved to the penthouse of the Huntley Hotel, overlooking the ocean and the whole of Los Angeles, for cocktails, dinner, and networking into the late evening.
