Irvine, California (PRWEB) August 25, 2011

California Southern University, an online university, celebrated its 33rd annual commencement, conferring degrees on more than 40 of the 115 graduates of the class of 2011 at an afternoon ceremony at the spectacular Barclay Theatre in Irvine, California. Representing an international student body, the graduates in attendance traveled to Southern California from across the country and around the world to receive diplomas from CalSouthern’s Schools of Business, Psychology, and Law.

CalSouthern’s remarkably talented and diverse class of 2011 ranges in age from 22 to 75, represents the full spectrum of ethnic and economic backgrounds, and includes successful entrepreneurs, groundbreaking marriage and family therapists, a recipient of the Daughters of the American Revolution’s Medal of Patriotism, and even a sitting judge, among many others. More than 350 friends and family gathered to celebrate the graduates’ accomplishments.

After introductory remarks from CalSouthern President Dr. Caroll Ryan, student speaker Dr. Kirsteen Moore—a registered clinical counselor based in British Columbia, Canada with special expertise in youth depression and suicide—delivered a moving, poignant (and occasionally hilarious) speech. CalSouthern Faculty Mentor Dr. Clifford R. Kettemborough, Director of Technology at The Walt Disney Company, spoke about the challenges and opportunities presented by our increasingly global society. Delivering the keynote address was Dr. Dani Babb, Founder and CEO of The Babb Group, member of the CalSouthern faculty, and an internationally acclaimed author, economic strategist, and real estate expert. In a stirring speech, Dr. Babb urged the graduates to fearlessly follow their inspiration in pursuit of greatness—after taking a moment to reflect on and celebrate their academic achievement with family and friends.

The Deans of CalSouthern’s Schools of Business, Psychology, and Law awarded bachelor’s degrees (the Bachelor of Business Administration and Bachelor of Arts in Psychology), master’s degrees (the Master of Science in Psychology and Master of Science in Law), and doctoral degrees (the Doctor of Psychology and Juris Doctor).

Founded in 1978, California Southern University is a premier, accredited online university offering degree programs at the associate, bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral levels in psychology, business, and law to an international student body, utilizing a proprietary online learning system. CalSouthern is accredited by the Accrediting Commission of the Distance Education and Training Council.
