Dr. Millett was listed as one of the Best Orthopaedic Surgeons in the country and ranked in the top 1 percent of his specialty by the prestigious U.S. News and World Report. He was also recognized as one of the country’s most " Outstanding Shoulder Surgeons and Specialists" according to a recent Becker's Orthopedic & Spine Review report.

Dr. Peter Millett – partner at The Steadman Clinic, chief of its shoulder service, and a director within the Steadman Philippon Research Institute in Vail, Colo. – was recently awarded two prestigious recognitions. Dr. Millett was listed as one of the Best Orthopaedic Surgeons in the country and ranked in the top 1 percent of his specialty by the prestigious U.S. News and World Report. He was also recognized as one of the country’s most "Outstanding Shoulder Surgeons and Specialists" according to a recent Becker's Orthopedic & Spine Review report. Dr. Millett was selected to these lists based on a number of factors including awards he has received from major organizations in the field, including the 2010 and 2011 Achievement Awards from the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons; his contributions in professional publications; his peer’s perceptions, and his leadership at The Steadman Clinic.

Dr. Millett specializes in disorders of the shoulder and sports medicine at The Steadman Clinic. He has authored over 200 peer-reviewed, scientific articles and book chapters, and 3 books on Orthopaedics, Sports Medicine, and Shoulder Surgery, including most recently one entitled Evaluation and Management of Common Upper Extremity Disorders.

In addition, Dr. Millett serves as a shoulder and sports medicine consultant to the country of Bermuda and has treated elite athletes from the NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, X-Games, and the Olympics. Dr. Millett is also affiliated with the United States Ski and Snowboard Association and has served as a team physician for the U.S. Ski Team and as a consultant to the Montreal Canadiens, professional hockey club.

Prior to coming to Vail, Dr. Millett held a faculty appointment at Harvard Medical School and was formerly Co-Director of the Harvard Shoulder Service and the Harvard Shoulder Fellowship. He also founded and directed the Musculoskeletal Proteomics Research Group at Harvard, where his team discovered and patented the protein profile for osteoarthritis.

Board Certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, Dr. Millett is also a member of numerous academic societies including the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons, the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine, the Orthopaedic Research Society, and the Arthroscopy Association of North America.
