New York, NY (PRWEB) August 30, 2011
In July, Recruiters placed more than 3,000 new online job ads that required cloud computing skills, according to WANTED Analytics™ (http://www.wantedanalytics.com), the leading source of real-time business intelligence for the talent marketplace. This represents a 68% year-over-year increase in demand for cloud computing skills.
The five metropolitan areas with the highest hiring demand for cloud computing skills during this period were San Jose, Seattle, Washington, DC, San Francisco and New York. Employers and staffing firms in San Jose placed more than 400 new online job ads that included cloud computing skills, the most of any city.
Computer Programmers and IT Specialists are most commonly required to have cloud computing skill sets. Computer Software Engineers (Applications) experienced the highest demand, with more than 700 new jobs advertised. Computer System Engineers experienced the second highest volume of job postings and Web Developers, despite seeing the third highest ad volume, had the highest year-over-year increase of 150%.
As companies shift IT investments to cloud-based applications, demand for these skills should continue and recruiting conditions will be moderately difficult across the US. According to the Hiring Scale™, the nationwide talent pool consists of approximately 10 potential candidates in the workforce for each tech related job ad requiring cloud computing skills. It is likely that employers and staffing firms will compete heavily to source qualified candidates. However, each location will experience varying degrees of difficulty. For example, Seattle’s talent pool is smaller than average, with just 8 potential candidates per advertised job in July. In comparison, the talent pool in New York consists of 16 candidates per job, larger than the national average.
The Hiring Scale measures conditions in local job markets by comparing hiring demand and labor supply. The Hiring Scale is part of the WANTED Analytics platform that offers business intelligence for the talent marketplace.
