Life can be full of twists and turns. It often requires true strength to make it through the day, let alone surviving until the end. In Climbing the Mountains (published by CrossBooks) Twila Zehr Patterson tells readers about her trials and tribulations in life, while offering inspiration and insights.
All Patterson ever wanted was a normal life; however that was not God’s intention. Instead, she was led down a path of depression, anxiety and loss. While raising children with bipolar disorder, she was diagnosed with a rare eye disease that slowly began stealing her sight.
Climbing the Mountains is about the peaks and valleys of life and the constant fights in between. Patterson and her family struggle with mental and physical illness every day, yet they have accepted their “abnormal” lives together with the knowledge that it’s all part of God’s plan.
“What have I learned from my life?” asks Patterson. “God will never give me more than I can handle, although I do sometimes beg for a break!”
Patterson wants readers to know bipolar disorder is an illness, not a failure. It is time mentally ill people are accepted, not rejected. God loves everyone, no matter what.
