Pearson, the world’s leading learning company, and the Eminata Group, Canada’s largest provider of independent, post-secondary education, today announced that students at institutions under the Eminata umbrella will receive all of their course content via the Apple iPad. The agreement is the largest postsecondary institutional initiative for iPad-based eTextbooks in North America.

Beginning September 1, 2011, students at CDI College, Vancouver Career College and Reeves College will begin receiving all of their course content via Pearson’s eText for iPad app. Hundreds of Pearson textbooks will be delivered in the eText for iPad platform, Pearson’s premier electronic book technology.

The iPad-based eTextbooks are currently being piloted at CDI College in Calgary North and Vancouver Career College in Coquitlam in the Accounting and Payroll Administration program. Over the next three years, all programs will be converted to digital delivery to meet the diverse needs of students inside and outside the classroom.

Pearson’s eText for iPad app presents digital content in the same high resolution as on a computer, even when pages are zoomed, and displays perfect fidelity to the print book. Students can easily add their own personalization (notes, highlights, bookmarks) while working on their iPads and then access it later on their Mac or PC.

In fiscal year of 2012 the Eminata Group will serve more than 14,000 enrollments at 38 campuses in 22 cities across Canada, offering comprehensive programs in business, health care, technology, and art and design.

“We are committed to increasing access to flexible, affordable learning opportunities with programs and services proven to improve student achievement and retention,” said Don Kilburn, CEO of Pearson Learning Solutions. “Our collaboration with the Eminata Group leverages the iPad’s ability to provide students with a more interactive learning experience, so they realize their full academic potential and move into rewarding, successful careers.”

“Our students will benefit from an enhanced learning experience, in which they can access course curriculum, learning tools, and Pearson’s eTextbooks from the iPad platform. Through cutting-edge technology, our students can take their experiences into the workforce with ease and our instructors can develop new ways of incorporating technology into the classroom,” said Randy Cox, President and CEO of the Eminata Group.
