Sterling, VA (PRWEB) August 30, 2011
Alan Sullivan, CEO and co-founder of Sterling VA-based Paxfire, Inc., says that Paxfire is pleased that the Electronic Frontier Foundation (“EFF”) is retracting its previous allegations about the company’s Internet privacy practices. “We believe the EFF plays an important and valuable role in insuring the privacy of those who use the Internet,’’ says Sullivan. “We appreciate the courage and responsibility that was required for the EFF to correct its mistakes.”
EFF’s retraction of those allegations are posted on its website at the following location:
Paxfire had previously denied it monitored all searches made by customers of Internet Service Providers with whom it worked, or that it built up corresponding profiles (see link below):
Paxfire Refutes Allegations in Lawsuit
EFF now acknowledges that it never had evidence that Paxfire did such things.
Mr. Alan Sullivan, on behalf of Paxfire, issued the following statement:
“Although Paxfire very much appreciates the posting by the EFF of this retraction, Paxfire is disappointed that the EFF, and the computer scientists with whom they worked, violated the cardinal principle of scientific investigation, this being that, whenever possible, always go to the source of critical information before drawing conclusions. Here, the source of the necessary information regarding Paxfire’s privacy practices was Paxfire itself. By failing to pick up the phone and contact Paxfire before publishing, the EFF and its computer scientists drew incorrect conclusions. This was completely avoidable.”
