According to new research from Santander Brits now fork out an average £131 on wedding gifts for close family members – more than double the amount spent two years ago.

The new research shows that the nation has spent more than £1.36bn on presents for the bride and groom in the last year. Brits now allocate an average £78 per person for a wedding gift, rising to £131 for close family members.

However despite more money being spent, 15 per cent of people are trying to reduce the amount they spend on weddings because they have less cash to spare.

Lending Stream – a short- term loans company – appreciates that an unexpected spend such as a wedding present may be difficult to cover for some. Lending Stream therefore recommends that a short term loan as a possible solution to those needing help to cover the initial extra spend.

Lending Stream short- term loans, an alternative to payday loans, can be availed online so as to get money safely transferred into a bank account on the same day, much like instant cash loans. Lending Stream’s average short term loan amount is £200. However, short-term loans can be offered at amounts between £50 and £1000.

A short-term loan provided by Lending Stream, unlike other payday loans, can be paid back anytime over a period of six months. This allows the borrower more time to pay back the short-term loan comfortably without upsetting their monthly budget.
