The exhibit and reception are free and open to the public.

Michael Miller has always been drawn to the visual boundary of land and water where one can experience the interaction of water, wind, sand, sky and light. Here he finds there is an incredible palette of colors in the reflecting sky or the reflecting nautical object on the water. He finds this light gives such graphic dimension to eel grass moving in the water or the endless variety of footprints left by wind or wave. He is interested in visually exploring and trying to capture the essence and beauty of this boundary at waters edge through his photography. Having lived in Massachusetts, Texas, Maryland, Georgia, and Cairo, Egypt, the one place Michael has always called home is his grandmother’s cottage on Cape Cod. It was here that he found his passion for the ocean and at an early age started taking photographs.

In this exhibit, Mr. Miller experiments with the use of canvas for printing fine art photography which makes the viewer question if it is a painting or a digital photograph. While speaking with the artist about his inspirations, he credits the students’ photographs from assignments given for his courses at Endicott College. Mr. Miller states that many of his inspirations are found by viewing their works allowing him to see things in a different perspective. He finds that their works at times opens his eyes to seeing something in a completely different and creative way that inspires him while out making his own photographs.

Mr. Miller has been an adjunct professor of photography at Endicott College since 1995. Beginning in 2002 he became the “Digital Imaging Consultant” for the Visual Communication Department at Endicott. He designed and taught the first digital photography course to be offered at Endicott in the fall of 2002. In the fall of 2009 he became the Digital Print Lab Coordinator for the Center for the Visual and Performing Art Center at Endicott College and became a full time employee in July of 2010 as Coordinator of Digital Imaging.

Michael Miller has been exposed to and involved in photography since an early age, being the son of a Polaroid executive. Beginning in the early 1990 he turned his passion for photography into a professional vocation. Since 1991 he has attended the New England Institute of Professional Photography, Mid American Institute of Professional Photography, Professional Photographers of America Affiliate Schools, National Association of Photoshop Professionals and the Epson Print Academy. He has worked as a portrait photographer at CPI Corporation and United Photographic Inc. where in 1991 he was one of the first portrait photographers to use Kodak’s new commercially available hybrid electronic imaging system. He owned and managed a high-end portrait photography business in Massachusetts from 1992 to 2000.
