Smarta.com and O2 have today named Lovestruck.com as a winner of the 2011 Smarta 100 awards: a collection of the UK’s most savviest, enterprising and disruptive businesses.

This year’s Smarta 100 provides a fascinating snapshot of UK small business today: a cross-section of ingenious new ideas, innovators and the fast-growth big business of tomorrow.

Lovestruck.com is London, Hong Kong and Singapore’s leading dating service for single professionals. Members can search for others close to where they work, live – or simply are – for quick coffee, lunch or after-work drinks using their multi-award winning website, iPhone or Android apps.

Lovestruck’s Managing Director and Co-Founder, Brett Harding, said: “We are delighted that Lovestruck.com’s innovation, execution, commercial performance and meteoric growth in the UK, Hong Kong and Singapore – despite the immense marketing power and technical resource of the entrenched competition – has been recognised by the Smarta 100 judges. Being named amongst the cream of British small businesses is the perfect manifestation of our progress.”

Commenting on this year’s Smarta 100 winners, Dragon’s Den star and Smarta board member Deborah Meaden, said: ‘This year’s Smarta 100 has uncovered some superb small businesses. These awards are championing passionate and ambitious people with brilliant ideas who’ve acted on those ideas and turned them into flourishing businesses.”

Simon Devonshire, General Manager, SMB for O2, said: “The SMBs that have made the final list are testimony to the dynamism and variety of businesses that are operating and flourishing in the UK.”

Smarta founder Shaa Wasmund added: “We’re hugely proud of this year’s award winners. I’ve every confidence a significant percentage will double in size by the time we announce next year’s winners!”

Lovestruck and the other 99 finalists will now battle it out for the coveted O2 Smarta 100 Business of the Year award. The winner will be presented with a £10,000 prize at the Smarta 100 Awards final on Wednesday 21st September at London’s IndigO2.
