Glycos Biotechnologies, Inc. (GlycosBio), an international biochemical company commercializing industrial biological processes to convert low-value feedstocks into high-value sustainable chemicals, today announced the Company will be presenting at the Platts Renewable Chemicals Conference taking place September 12th – 13th in Houston, TX.

Rob Toker, Vice President of Partnerships for GlycosBio, will participate in a panel discussion about creating value and building alliances for renewable chemicals. Panelists will explore different partnership strategies, provide examples of successful programs, and offer key success factors for partnering and commercialization. There will also be a presentation and discussion of USDA support through the BioPreferred program.

Toker will provide attendees with industry examples of successful partnering as well as GlycosBio’s experience expanding into Malaysia. The Company is collaborating with Bio-XCell, a government-supported industrial ecosystem focused on the advancement of biotechnology in Malaysia, to construct GlycosBio’s biochemical plant and biotechnology research and development facility within Bio-XCell’s industrial park. Construction of the commercial plant is expected to begin in Q4 2011 with completion in Q4 of 2012. GlycosBio will utilize the facility to support the production of isoprene, a key building block for synthetic rubber, from low-value renewable feedstocks readily available in Malaysia.

In its inaugural year, the Platts Renewable Chemicals Conference will offer attendees an in-depth view of the market for bio-based chemicals and materials, a booming industry, stimulated by technology breakthroughs and the high cost of conventional petrochemical feedstocks. Attendees will be introduced to the major new players that are entering the industry and making significant new investments.
