Experts speaking at an upcoming WPL Publishing webinar will explain key provisions that appear in almost every construction contract and help prepare those attending the event to negotiate equitable allocations of risks and liabilities.
The webinar will focus on indemnification, insurance, liquidated damages, waivers of consequential damages, warranty and correction obligations, differing site conditions, and termination. The 90-minute webinar, entitled “Key Construction Contract Provisions: Understand the Potential Risks and Liabilities Involved in Construction Contracts,” is scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 15, 2011, at 1:00 (EDT). Negotiating construction contracts can be tricky and extremely risky. Potential risk and liability lies around every corner of a construction project, and unknowingly assuming that risk can put a construction company in harm’s way. Failing to recognize, assess, and properly allocate those risks can force the company into time-consuming and expensive disputes and impose a liability that could push the company out of business.
Addressing webinar attendees will be a pair of experts who practice construction law in the Tampa office of Carlton Fields, P.A. Scott Pence, an attorney for the firm, primarily focuses on reviewing, drafting, negotiating, and administering design and construction contracts for public and private projects. Mark Smith, a Carlton shareholder, represents owners, developers, and contractors in all aspects of construction litigation.
Following their presentations, there will be an interactive 10-to-15 minute question-and-answer session addressing relevant topics.
Webinar tuition is based on location, not number of participants, so each registration site can have multiple participants for one low price. To register, visit http://tinyurl.com/4yda3xk.
