Cruising to success for the fifth consecutive year, DFDS Seaways has been named Europe’s Leading Long Sea Ferry Operator 2011 by The World Travel Awards.

The cruise ferry operator has successfully won the ‘Oscar’ of the travel industry for five years in a row, championing its commitment to excellent customer service and onboard experience on its Newcastle to Holland and Harwich to Denmark routes.

UK Head of Sales at DFDS Seaways, Andrew Crowe was present at the star studded awards ceremony at the Diamond Golf Resort & Spa in Antalya, Turkey to receive the award on behalf of DFDS Seaways. He says: “This is a phenomenal success for the whole team and demonstrates just how dedicated we are to maintaining a first class product range and travel experience. To be voted for by fellow travel professionals and consumers alike makes it very prestigious honour indeed.”

The World Travel Awards are recognised as the highest accolades within the travel industry and aim to acknowledge, reward and celebrate excellence across all sectors of the global travel and tourism industry. This year more than 213,000 people voted for their favourite travel brands including both travel industry professionals and consumers.

DFDS Seaways puts its successive wins down to its quality onboard offering with restaurants, bars, live entertainment and Kids’ club, and exceptional customer service.

John Crummie, Passenger Director, North Sea, says: “To achieve this accolade five years in a row is something that we as a company are very proud of. It demonstrates our commitment to provide a customer experience that is both of excellent quality and superb value for money. Furthermore, the commitment of our staff ensures that our customers’ journey with us is one of the most enjoyable aspects of their holiday.”
