US Day of Rage

Free and fair elections produce the kind of stewardship our nation desperately needs, because they ensure that citizens can influence their destiny, and make genuine contributions to society.

New York, NY (PRWEB) September 07, 2011

On September 17th, 2011, thousands of citizens across the globe will participate in non-violent protests and assemblies at major financial centers to bring much needed attention to America's corrupt democratic process. In New York City, several thousand citizens from all over the United States will converge on Wall Street in lower Manhattan. There, UDOR will peaceably assemble to bring attention to America's electoral disgrace.

As the never-ending onslaught of political jockeying and one-upsmanship stymies Washington D.C., USDOR will bring attention to the woeful state of America's Democracy. Free and fair elections produce the kind of stewardship our nation desperately needs, because they ensure that citizens can influence their destiny, and make genuine contributions to society.

Unfortunately, free and fair elections are a thing of the past in America. Because of recent Supreme Court decisions (e.g., http://www.supremecourt.gov/opinions/09pdf/08-205.pdf [Citizens United vs. FEC __title__ Citizens United Vs. FEC]), money is flowing freely and unaccountably into the American electoral process. Elections will be swayed by interests opposed to those of the United States. Corporations, even those owned by foreign shareholders, will and do use money to act as the voices of millions, while individual citizens, the legitimate voters, are silenced and demoralized by the farce of American Democracy.

US Day of Rage is committed to one guiding principle in Election Reform:

    1 CITIZEN - $1 DOLLAR - 1 VOTE

US Day of Rage invites all citizens to assist in it's noble cause. For more information, follow the @USDayofRage account & #USDOR hashtag on Twitter, or visit http://www.usdayofrage.org

US Day of Rage (Twitter:@USDayofRage) is a citizens network emboldened by the Twitter Revolution committed to reforming America's electoral process. Thousands of USDOR followers will join together on September 17th to occupy the world's financial centers. USDOR demands that corporations (FOREIGN and DOMESTIC) be removed from the electoral fundraising and spending process, and that 1 CITIZEN - $1 DOLLAR - 1 VOTE be the law of the land. US Day of Rage (USDOR) is planning protests in New York, San Francisco, Seattle, Austin, Barcelona, London...
