“We are thrilled our partnership with Frette is extending beyond Fashion’s Night Out as we work together towards bettering the lives of children in Rwanda,” said Same Sky founder Francine LeFrak.

This Fashion’s Night Out, Frette, the leading international luxury bed, bath and home furnishing brand and Same Sky, a trade-not-aide jewelry initiative empowering HIV-positive women in Africa have teamed up to help benefit the children of Rwanda and provide them with the opportunity for a better tomorrow. For every set of sheets purchased at Frette’s Madison Avenue store, Frette will donate a mattress to a child in Rwanda. The weeklong campaign kicks-off on Fashion’s Night Out with an evening of cocktails and shopping and will continue through Monday, September 12th.
Same Sky & Frette’s Fashions Night Out launch event will take place at Frette’s 799 Madison Avenue store on Thursday, September 8th from 6-11pm. Shoppers are invited to purchase Same Sky’s signature hand blown glass-beaded jewelry made by artisans in Rwanda and will debut their new Prosperity Bracelets made by artisans in Zambia. In addition, Frette will be offering an exclusive 10% discount off all in-store merchandise during the event.
“After the success of last year’s Fashion’s Night Out event, we are very excited to be partnering with Same Sky once again,” said Filippo Arnaboldi, Vice President at Frette North America. “The vibrant colors of Same Sky’s artisan jewelry coupled with the Almalfi Coast and Rome’s Dolce Vita are what inspired our latest collection – Edmond Frette, which we are debuting during this launch event. We are delighted to align ourselves with an initiative that not only inspires our aesthetic, but also serves to empower women everywhere.”
During the 1994 Rwandan genocide, women were subjected to sexual violence on a massive scale. More than 250,000 women were raped and, of the survivors, approximately 70% were infected with HIV/AIDS. Same Sky was born with the goal of empowering these women to rebuild both their lives and communities. By implementing artisan training and creating a marketplace, Same Sky has grown from four employees to seventy-five in the span of a few short years. In an effort to further the growing ethical shopping movement and thus better the lives of women affected by HIV and AIDS, Same Sky has aligned itself with socially conscious companies like Frette.
“We are thrilled our partnership with Frette is extending beyond Fashion’s Night Out as we work together towards bettering the lives of children in Rwanda,” said Same Sky founder Francine LeFrak. “We believe in providing a hand up not a hand out and the women artisans that work with Same Sky have truly transformed their lives. They can now afford to buy a house for their family, get the medications they need, send their children to school, and now with the help of Frette provide mattresses for their children,” added LeFrak.
Same Sky and Frette are partnering with the non-profit organization Avega, who will coordinate the distribution of Rwanda Foam mattresses to the children of Same Sky’s artisans. Formed in 1983, Rwanda Foam remains the country's pioneer in mattress production and most recently received an award from Spain for its quality products. Rwanda Foam mattresses are extremely durable and can last for 10 years assuring a good night's sleep, a productive day at school and confidence for Rwanda's next generation of leaders.
