“High performance building is constantly evolving,” says George Borkovich, Ecobuild Principal.
Centerville, MA (PRWEB) September 08, 2011
As high performance building (HPB) gains momentum in commercial, residential, government and institutional sectors there is an increasing demand by industry professionals for the latest HPB information and technology. The National High Performance Building Conference (NHPB) answers the demand in Washington, D.C. December 5-9, 2011 as part of Ecobuild® America. In its third year, the highly successful NHPB Conference is sponsored and produced by AEC Science & Technology ®.
“High performance building is constantly evolving,” says George Borkovich, Ecobuild Principal. “Roofing systems. Lighting control software. Net-zero energy buildings. Architects, engineers, and contractors scrutinize every facet of the industry in search of what’s new today and what’s on the horizon for tomorrow.”
The need for the newest and latest information on green products and technologies extends to federal agencies that are directed under Executive Order 13514 to support the growth of a 21st century clean energy economy.
“Locating the National High Performance Building Conference in Washington, D.C. has always been a priority for AEC,” says Richard C. Vendola, Jr, Ecobuild Principal. “Under EO 13514 every federal agency must meet aggressive energy, water and waste reduction targets. They are tasked with reducing their greenhouse gas pollution and leverage Federal purchasing power to curb waste and save taxpayers’ dollars. AEC works diligently to bring the newest products and technology to their front door.”
NHPB Conference presents the newest and latest in HPB technology and products
The NHPB Conference blends industry experts, associations and organizations to offer more than 40 sessions that educate, promote best practice and highlight new technologies. The Conference includes executive level meetings, roundtable discussions, seminars, and the BETEC Symposium. The vendor exhibits highlight HPB and new energy products including building controls, energy management systems, energy efficient lighting, and services covering the following subjects:
- Function and Operation
- Historic Preservation
- Safety and Security
A sample of sessions, seminars and symposiums offered at the NHPB Conference follow. For a full listing go to http://aececobuild.com/High_Performance_Building_Conferences.

- Collective Cooling: Incorporating Cool Roofs into Green Building Systems
- Prefabrication & Modularization in the Construction Industry
- Key Tools for Commercial Window Energy Performance
- Corporate ROI of Energy Management in Buildings
- NetZero Energy Building: The Next Frontier in Green Building
The unprecented push to increase the energy efficiency of newly constructed buildings has given rise to new proposed insulation levels of insulation that require thicker framing and other significant changes to wall construction. The daylong BETEC Symposium will examine the proposed changes, the potential conflict with code (fire, structural) requirements, constructability concerns, cost, and review other unintended consequences (moisture and durability issues).
