“The Art of Living Foundation has the vision of creating a stress-free and violence-free America, and the world by strengthening and bringing peace to one individual at a time,” said Patti Montella. “As we remember 9/11 and honor human values of peace and oneness, let us remind ourselves to go beyond our differences and harness the wisdom and compassion inspired by all the world's great traditions to create world peace.”
In New York city, the Art of Living Foundation offered free trauma relief programs to thousands throughout the region after the 9/11 event. The Art of Living Workshop offers participants a powerful breathing technique called Sudarshan Kriya Yoga (http://www.artofliving.org/us-en/what-is-sudarshan-kriya) which has been developed by Sri Sri Ravi Shakar (http://srisriravishankar.org/). It makes use of the relation between breath and emotions by including specific rhythms of breath that harmonize the body, mind and emotions and help individuals find relief from stress. Published studies have shown that after only one experience of SKY, there is an increase of the well-being hormone prolactin, among many other findings. This workshop helps in reducing stress levels and increases physical energy, enthusiasm, self-esteem, awareness, and clarity of mind.
