Juno Beach, FL (PRWEB) September 07, 2011
TBC Retail Group recently announced its sponsorship of Beyond the Battlefield presented by Service Central®. The premise of the television show is to provide military veterans and their families the opportunity to experience the outdoors through hunting and fishing trips. While the show features the outdoor hunting experience, its true purpose is to highlight and share the veteran’s experiences and how deployments impact the entire family. Its goal is to recognize the many sacrifices made by the entire family, the wife and children. To view the trailer, please click on the link. “We are honored to partner with Trophy Quest and the Sportsmen’s Foundation for Military Families to provide this opportunity to military veterans and their families,” said Orland Wolford, president and CEO, TBC Retail Group. “These men and women make the ultimate sacrifice to ensure our freedoms and liberties as American’s for that we are deeply thankful.” In addition to sponsoring Beyond the Battlefield, TBC Retail Group offers discounts to military members and their spouses at all of its 1200 plus locations: Tire Kingdom®, NTB-National Tire and Battery®, Merchant’s Tire and Auto Centers® and Big O Tires®. “As avid hunters, the outdoors has always been the heart of Trophy Quest, so when the opportunity arose to bring our veterans and their families back to the outdoors it was an easy decision,” said John Wilson, President of Trophy Quest. “It is a privilege to witness families coming together, whether it is a parent with their children or a husband and wife, the outdoors is a perfect place to help heal from the separation.” In addition to Beyond the Battlefield, Trophy Quest supports the Sportsmen’s Foundation for Military Families (SFMF) and many other veterans’ organizations.
“One of the biggest hurdles for many combat veterans is learning how to deal with the stress of their combat experience,” says SFMF Executive Director, Barry Hull, himself a US Navy F/A-18 combat fighter pilot in Iraq. “This applies not only to the veteran, but also to the veteran’s entire family. We know that participation in an SFMF outdoor adventure, without equivocation, improves communication and stress coping skills within the veteran family, and the benefits are profound and life-long. What we do is not inexpensive, and we are forever grateful for the sponsorship of TBC Retail Group. Their generosity will significantly help hundreds of veteran families on the road to recovery.”
The Sportsmen’s Foundation for Military Families (SFMF) was established to lend a hand, and to say thank you, to military veterans and their families, through the participation in no-cost hunts and outdoor adventures.
Outdoorsmen understand that hunting is much more than simply the harvesting of an animal. Hunting represents a call to nature, bonding with family, independence, a quiet reflection, for many a passion like no other. Hunting may be the single biggest stress reduction and “cleansing” of the soul for those dedicated and enthusiastic about outdoor activities. SFMF is adamant that the outdoor adventure be a family affair. It is the inclusion of the not only the veteran, but also the veteran’s family, that provides for the long lasting benefits. The memory of the hunt, time spent together, the confidence it instills, and the experience of success, bolsters the bonds within the veteran’s family.
SFMF was established in 2008, and to date has helped over 100 military families. The brainchild of Danny Santangelo, SFMF is based in south Florida, where most of the hunts take place, but has associations with generous outfitters across the United States. Donated hunts have included most North American big game, small game, wing shooting, and exotics, as well as an occasional African hunt.
