As one in ten bike owners will experience having their bike stolen within the first five years of purchasing one, we saw a big opportunity for the mybikeREGO service in Australia.

mybikeREGO launches a new solution to fight bike crime in Australia and give cyclists peace of mind, with its online bike registration service. mybikeREGO is an innovative solution to reduce bicycle theft whilst also supplementing community policing initiatives, tracking and providing emergency contact details in a secure, online environment.

mybikeREGO CEO, Jacques de Villiers, said:

“As one in ten bike owners will experience having their bike stolen within the first five years of purchasing one, we saw a big opportunity for the mybikeREGO service in Australia.”

The service invites bike owners to sign up, register their bike details online and receive a Pulse ID tag to attach to their bike. The Pulse ID tag is a unique, tamper resistant QR code tag that owners attach to their bikes. The Pulse ID tags act as a theft-deterrent as bicycle thieves are reluctant to steal trackable and traceable goods.

If a member is in an accident mybikeREGO makes it quicker and easier for the authorities to identify the bike owner and make contact with the loved ones. Additionally, if a bike is stolen the member can login to their profile and update the bike’s status online.

mybikeREGO members have access to their own personal portal allowing them to manage their emergency contact and bicycle details as well being first in line for innovative new bicycle tracking technology being launched in September 2011.

“We will bring cutting edge, integrated technology to aid all cyclists from the ultra-serious to the leisure and social riders,” says de Villiers who is looking to bring this Australian built product to Asia, South Arica and beyond in the next 12 months.

mybikeREGO is keen to work with the community, police and cycling associations to help raise the profile of riders by providing easy identification of bike and rider, prevent theft, promote recovery through dynamic social media alerts and allow riders to cycle with piece of mind.

About mybikeREGO
mybikeREGO is an online bike registration service providing bicycle owners the opportunity to register their bicycles and maintain their emergency contact and bicycle information securely online.

mybikeREGO provides authorities controlled access to a searchable database to improve identification time when a registered bike is involved in an accident, facilitate contact with the mybikeREGO members nominated emergency contacts and have recovered bikes returned to their rightful owners. Our service offers stolen bike listings and free stolen bike alerts through our social media platforms. Our mission is to register all bikes in an effort to deter and reduce the $3 billion global bike theft trade.

The company uses mobile apps, unique tamper-resistant QR bar code tags, called Pulse ID tags and social networking as the latest weapon against bike theft. Each set of Pulse ID tags comes with 3 tamper-resistant labels for our memberʼs bike.

Pulse ID tags act as a theft-deterrent as bicycle thieves and their handlers are reluctant to deal in trackable and traceable goods. Any efforts to remove the tags can damage the bike and leaves evidence the bike has been tampered with.
