Meaningful activity and healthy living merge during ICAA's Active Aging Week, September 25-October 1, 2011, the annual health promotion observance of International Council on Active Aging®. Celebrated throughout the United States and Canada, the message of ICAAs Active Aging Week is universal: people can live as fully as possible throughout the life span.
Seniors centers and health clubs, retirement communities and aging services—all are hosting events that are customized to your area and your population. Taking to heart this year’s theme, “Expand Your Experience,” local hosts have gone all out to provide diverse, fun and educational activities.
What can older adults (and their families and friends) expect? Visit the official ICAA's Active Aging Week site at http://www.facebook.com/ActiveAgingWeek and you’ll find a walk along the river in Georgia and another in downtown Las Vegas; passports to numerous activities, from health fairs to fitness classes, in Iowa and South Dakota; the famous Walk with Aegis Therapies (last year in 600 locations); a Latin Dance Party in Utah; art shows and dinners...these are only a few of the many activities adding meaning and fun to the lives of older adults.

About ICAA's Active Aging Week
ICAA's Active Aging Week is an annual event held the last full week of September (prior to October 1, International Day of Older Persons). The week was initiated by the International Council of Active Aging to give as many older adults as possible the means to experience activities and exercise in a safe, friendly and fun atmosphere. During the week, host organizations provide a variety of free activities, such as classes, educational seminars, access to fitness facilities, health fairs and community walks.
About the International Council on Active Aging (ICAA)
ICAA, a professional association that leads, connects and defines the active-aging industry, supports professionals who develop wellness facilities, programs and services for adults over 50. The association is focused on active aging—an approach to aging that helps older adults live life as fully as possible within all dimensions of wellness—and provides its members with education, information, resources and tools.
