Oyster Bay, NY (PRWEB) September 13, 2011
Think Long Island First, a company dedicated to promoting goods made on Long Island, will soon be celebrating one year anniversary of opening its doors in the heart of downtown Oyster Bay. This inaugural year will be celebrated with the Open House event on Saturday, October 8, which is open to the public. Artists whose work is showcased at the store will be in attendance, as well as the two founders, Ewa Rumprecht and Jolanta Zamecka.
The burgeoning company launched one year ago with 28 artists, craftspeople, writers and chefs. The wares showcased and the artists represented have multiplied along with interest in the store – Think Long Island First now represents 109 talented Long Islanders.
The store has doubled its space in the last month. It carries various products such as wood-turned objects, pottery, photography, stationary, metal sculpture, cosmetics, jewelry, knits, honey, jam and jellies – all crafted within the area.
“We find that people in the community are pleasantly surprised to learn that their neighbors are creating such exceptional items,“ co-founder Ewa Rumprecht said. “We have been overwhelmed with the positive response and support from the public for items made locally on Long Island.”
In other exciting news, products from Think Long Island First will also be available for the first time ever at the historic Long Island Fair, held September 22-25 at Old Bethpage Village Restoration. At the same event, Think Long Island First will be presenting the “Think Green Award” for an entry which best reflects the principles of sustainability, i.e, it is made from reused materials or from local materials obtained with minimum environmental impact.
“We are thrilled with the slate of new artists, the expansion of the space and the upcoming events on our roster. But most of all, we are excited about the overwhelming community support and the positive addition we have made to downtown Oyster Bay and the way it has brought neighbors together,” said co-founder Jolanta Zamecka.
