Letting go is something that can be very hard especially for a very young child. Author Connie Cordero Herbilla invokes nostalgic memories of childhood as she shares an engaging new tale about Gab’s Send-Off For Grandpa.
Grandpa’s six-week vacation is over and he has to, once again, leave his family in the Philippines. As the family accompanies him to the airport to send him off back to his work in South America, two-year-old Gab becomes a little problem. It seems that he is having a hard time letting go of Grandpa—literally and figuratively. For the past three days, he has been clinging tightly to Grandpa and that upsets everybody, especially Grandma. Grandpa and Gab have become close during their happy moments together. They have been to the beach several times, walking barefoot in the sand when the sun is not hot, dipping their feet in the water, picking shells. They also played hide-and-seek and animal shadow-making at home. So how would little Gab react when Grandpa leaves?
Bursting with illustrations creatively done by artist Verciluis Mila, Gab’s Send-Off For Grandpa is a heart-rending tale of love expressed by an innocent heart. With vibrant images and amusing characters playing around a poignant lesson, this book is perfect for parent-child and grandparent-grandchild bonding.
Gab’s Send-Off For Grandpa will be featured at the 2011 Frankfurt Book Exhibit in Frankfurt, Germany, on October 12 to 16, 2011. For more information on this book, interested parties may log on to http://www.Xlibris.com.
