expressor software, the leading provider of simplified, powerful, and affordable data integration software, announces the September 16th release of expressor 3.4, which features three major areas of enhancement for the company’s data integration platform:
New Features and Interfaces Raise the Bar on Usability
New Rules Editor – This new editor enables users to develop business rules that can be defined independent of specific input and output data, thereby insulating the business logic from external data source changes. The rules editor is an important step forward towards the reusable rules enhancement planned for later this year.
Attribute Propagation – Attribute propagation is a powerful new capability that automatically manages the flow of data through any expressor transformation operator. With this capability, expressor further simplifies the data mapping process, one of the most tedious aspects of any data integration project.
Delimited File Enhancements – The expressor 3.4 delimited schema wizard significantly improves the workflow for creating delimited schemas and configuring read and write file operators.
New Features for Data Warehousing, Migration, and ETL Projects
Lookup Tables – expressor Studio 3.4 introduces lookup tables, which allow data records to be found using simple lookup rules within an expressor dataflow. ETL developers who appreciate the value of strong lookup capabilities will appreciate this functionality for a variety of reasons:
Reusable metadata artifacts are treated like any other data source or target.Users have complete control over finding, using, and updating records in lookup tables.
Transpose Operators – These new operators allow users to easily transpose one input record to many output records and vice versa with a simple user interface.
Operational Variables – This new capability makes it straightforward to store and reuse operational data from one run of an expressor dataflow to the next.
Multi-Condition Filter Operator – The enhanced filter operator now allows users to filter their data using more than one filter condition, dramatically simplifying the processing of data records.
Native Database Merge Support on Write Table – The write table operator now supports the database merge capability required in typical database migration and data warehouse maintenance scenarios.
New Features Enhance Server Deployment
expressor Dataflow Parameterization – This new capability allows users to adapt applications to different runtime environments by easily resetting parameter values such as source and target databases. When moving a dataflow to a deployment environment, users can easily override parameter values set for the development environment.
Multi-Step Dataflows – In expressor 3.4, a dataflow can be composed of multiple sequential “steps” in which each step concludes by writing data to a target that can be accessed by a subsequent step.
Other Packaging Enhancements in expressor 3.4
New “Desktop Edition" License – The new expressor Desktop Edition is being introduced in response to overwhelming demand from expressor’s business user community. This highly affordable edition enables users to integrate expressor ETL applications with the Windows task scheduler on their desktop.
“My team and I have been using expressor since version 2.2, and we love the direction expressor is taking with the new 3.x platform,” said Jeff Vannest, Staff Architect at LABVANTAGE Solutions. “The expressor team has continued to improve and enhance usability, and the simplified data mapping and reusable objects make the new expressor Data Integration Platform both powerful and intuitive to use. I’ve received a preview of the upcoming 3.4 release and can't wait to use it.”
"Our expressor Data Integration Platform is rapidly evolving and now supports many of the capabilities found in high-end data integration solutions," commented Dr. Michael Waclawiczek, VP Marketing, expressor. "We are very pleased with the fast growing user adoption of our 3.x platform for a variety of desktop data productivity applications and mainstream ETL projects. expressor’s simplified data mapping approach—along with our affordable product pricing and high value services offerings—make us a very competitive solution in the market.”
This is the fourth general availability release this year of the expressor version 3 Data Integration Platform. The expressor 3.4 release further extends the expressor platform by supporting more complex ETL and data processing use cases and deployments—and includes important usability enhancements requested by users of expressor’s community and commercial software editions.
The expressor 3.4 Data Integration Platform will be available on September 16th and includes expressor Studio 3.4, the company’s desktop ETL tool, which can be downloaded for free.
expressor will be showcasing this new release in a demo webinar on September 21st, 2011, 2pm ET.
At expressor software, we’re simplifying data integration by providing software that is easy to use, powerful, and affordable—enabling organizations to accomplish more with fewer resources. We dramatically simplify the vast majority of basic data integration tasks—making it far easier to map and move data from one location to another. And, when data integration becomes more complicated—requiring various types of data transformations—we help make data integration and ETL projects more flexible and efficient by enabling the creation and subsequent reuse of powerful artifacts, configurations, and business rules. This means that when a complex business data challenge is solved once, the solution can be reused.
expressor has a rapidly growing community of over 10,000 unique expressor Studio download users. Leading organizations such as Sketchers USA, American Tower, Viverae, Western World, LabVantage, and ClickRSVP have adopted expressor’s affordable data integration platform for server deployment to help them integrate on-premises and cloud data sources with their business critical applications.
