(PRWEB UK) 14 September 2011
The Technology Strategy Board (http://www.innovateuk.org), in partnership with the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) (http://www.epsrc.ac.uk), is to invest up to £9m in grant funding to support highly innovative, business led collaborative research projects focused on nanoscale technology-enabled solutions for the healthcare sector.
The competition encourages applications for business-led projects focusing on the targeted delivery of therapeutic agents and diagnostics, where nanoscale technologies are at the heart of the innovation.
The aim of the investment is to help ensure that the UK can become an early competitive adopter of these novel technologies and rapidly meet the urgent and difficult challenges posed within the worldwide healthcare sector by translating world-class early stage ideas from academia and commercializing them through building supply chains with innovative businesses.
The Technology Strategy Board will invest up to £3 million to support involvement by businesses while EPSRC will invest up to £6 million to support participation by academic institutions.
The Nanoscale Technology Enabled Healthcare competition opens on 1 November 2011 and applications must be received by 13 December 2011. For further information please visit: http://www.innovateuk.org/content/competition/nanoscale-technology-enabled-healthcare-building-t.ashx.
