Capitol Hill Policy Leaders to Debate Health Reform and Health Insurance Exchanges at World Congress Leadership Summit

In their session, “News From the Hill – The Latest Legislative Developments in Health Reform,” Emily Henehan Murry, Policy Advisor, Office of the Majority Whip Kevin McCarthy (R-California), will engage in a head-to-head discussion with Wendell Primus, Senior Budget and Health Policy Advisor, from the office of House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-California) to discuss solutions and opportunities to current challenges.

The World Congress 2nd Annual Health Care Reform Congress on Health Insurance Exchanges will feature Congressional policy experts for bi-partisan discussion on the present and future of reform.

In their session, “News From the Hill – The Latest Legislative Developments in Health Reform,” Emily Henehan Murry, Policy Advisor, Office of the Majority Whip Kevin McCarthy (R-California), will engage in a head-to-head discussion with Wendell Primus, Senior Budget and Health Policy Advisor, from the office of House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-California) to discuss solutions and opportunities to current challenges.

The session will serve to kick off the two-day conference Monday, September 19 at 10 a.m.

The conference will feature more than 25 national health care leaders the current political climate surrounding health reform, including the most recently released regulations, coverage on the case for the individual mandate, and what else is coming down the pipeline that attendees should be prepared for. The Congress will examine the development of the health insurance exchanges across the nation and the impact of these new marketplaces on health plans and the industry as a whole.

The Health Care Reform Congress on Health Insurance Exchanges will be co-located with the 2nd Congress on Medical Loss Ratios (MLRs).

The Health Insurance Exchanges Congress will provide the audience with an opportunity to:

  •     Identify the opportunities of the health insurance exchanges for industry stakeholders.
  •     Gain strategies to take advantage of the growth in the individual marketplace; how will consumers choose their services? How will this impact member experience enhancement?
  •     Hear the small employer perspective on the small business exchange and how they will interact with services within the exchange.
  •     Discuss what is coming ahead, the entrance of the large employers into exchanges in 2017 and the potential for the exchanges to drive wider system reform.
