The other featured hotels include Lisbon’s stylish Hotel Azores Lisboa, a modern four-star hotel in the city’s business and shopping district. The downtown and elegant Tivoli Jardim is set near major sites and shopping. The Hotel Mundial is right in the heart of the city’s center. Lisbon stands on the north bank of the Tejo River, where the river meets the Atlantic. It is Portugal’s largest city and its capital, with the added distinction of being the warmest and most western capital in Europe. Its climate is strongly influenced by the Gulf Stream. Built on seven hills, some of Lisbon’s streets are too steep for cars, but visitors can and should take in panoramic views of the city by traveling to the top via elevators or funicular.
