It's nearly a 20 percent increase over last year and is on par with the 1997-98 season when five airlines operated in Aspen.
Aspen, Colorado (PRWEB) September 14, 2011
United Airlines recently added three new flights servicing Aspen/Snowmass including a fourth daily fight from Los Angeles, a second from Houston, and one more from Denver. United Airlines also offers four daily flights from Chicago and two from San Francisco. The increased service begins on December 15, 2011. Combined with American Airlines entering the Aspen air market and Frontier Airlines continued service to Aspen/Snowmass, this winter will bring the most seats available to and from Aspen in over a decade according to Stay Aspen Snowmass.
“We are very well positioned for the upcoming winter,” says Bill Tomcich, president of Stay Aspen Snowmass and the local liaison to the airline industry. “No ski resort has this kind of competition.”
With direct flights from Aspen to Denver, Dallas, Houston, Chicago, and Los Angeles, getting to Aspen/Snowmass has never been easier. Visitors from the Gulf Coast states, Central and Latin America now have easier access to Aspen via Houston and Dallas. Also, the nonstop flights from Los Angeles make Aspen more appealing for visitors from Australia and New Zealand.
Tomcich notes that is it challenging to predict if the competitive airline landscape will drive fares down and states, “what you see is what you get”.
