Strategic Security Dean Speaks to Women in Security about Career Advancement and the Value of Professional Certifications

Henley-Putnam University is proud to announce that Dean Linda Florence, Ph.D, CPP, will speak as part of the selected panel of industry experts during the 2011 ASIS Women in Security Group Seminar.

On Tuesday, September 20, the ASIS Women in Security Group will explore topics unique to females in the industry. This networking event and Open Session will be held Tuesday, September 20, 2011 from 3:15 p.m. to4:30 p.m. in the Orlando Convention Center, Room: W414B.

It will include four breakout sessions, with Dr. Florence leading the first one, Achieving Your Potential with Certification. This unique session will discuss the importance for women in today's job market to maintain competitiveness through advanced training. Professional certifications provide women with the enhanced opportunity to advance and achieve professional goals. As an established and respected professional herself, Dr. Florence will inform attendees of the steps necessary to achieve certification and stand out among their peers by progressing in their security careers.

Dr. Florence serves as Dean of Henley-Putnam University’s Strategic Security & Protection Management Program and the Doctoral Program. She has over two decades of management experience with Fortune 1000 companies including Sprint, The Venetian Resort Hotel chain, The Royal Bank of Scotland, Fidelity Investments and the First Union National Bank. Throughout her career, Dr. Florence has consulted with organizations to develop project management systems and has streamlined operational processes and security protocols across multiple business platforms. Her work has improved executive organizational strategies allowing workplaces to successfully administer their services. Dr. Florence maintains the professional designation of Certified Protection Professional and is Board Certified in Security Management.

In addition to two decades of senior level security leadership expertise, Dr. Florence combines her advanced academic preparation with a passion for teaching and mentoring.    Dr. Florence’s 21 years of teaching experience demonstrated her strong commitment to student success.

Dr. Florence earned her Master’s of Science at the Harold Abel School of Psychology, Capella University and also graduated Magna Cum Laude with a PhD in Industrial-Organizational Psychology at the same university.
