InTheAirNet (ITAN) today debuted its new Android-based in-flight map system – MAPP APP. This application, which users download to their personal entertainment device (PED), allows passengers to access an aircraft's map programs via the cabin's wired or wireless distribution system.
MAPP APP is the latest release of ITAN's industry leading map software product line, which millions of passengers have used to track their journeys while in flight. Compatible with many different PEDs, MAPP APP features the same high-resolution maps as other versions, with the option of adding higher-resolution views of key cities. The program's digital satellite imagery enables views 40 miles across, anywhere around the world, and city views four miles across.
The application, which passengers can reuse on later flights once downloaded, can also be customized for destination information and branding graphics to suit an airline's needs. Besides being the best value on the market, MAPP APP provides better imagery, easy configuration, more choices of views, auto scripting and up to 1k of data.
“We are pleased to bring this enhanced mapping technology directly to passengers' PEDs,” said Michael Rogerson, chairman, InTheAirNet. “Being able to view a map on their own device should make in-flight mapping a much more fun, convenient and personal experience for them.”
Demonstrations of MAPP APP will be available at ITAN’s exhibit during the APEX 2011 Expo in Seattle Sept. 13-15.
