People In Need, a new online portal for charitable giving, offers those in need the opportunity to seek donations for free and without any service charges or percentage take. This new website is an ideal partner for anyone affected by an unforeseen tragedy.

The recent wildfires that raged across Central Texas have already become the state’s costliest ever – accounting for an estimated $250+ million in damage. According to Texas Forest Service estimates, this devastation is the result of dozens of wildfires that have burned through 3.7 million acres and 2,649 homes and have claimed ten lives. And, the toll of these wildfires is being taken atop the already $5.2 billion in estimated agricultural losses from the state’s epic drought, which began in October 2010.

Fortunately, many of the victims of these horrendous natural disasters are insured and will be able to recoup most, if not all of their financial losses. However, according to Red Cross estimates, 1 in 5 of the homeowners affected by these wildfires have no insurance to cover the cost of rebuilding their homes or reclaiming their lives. Additionally, another 70% of American homeowners who do have insurance, including those across Central Texas, lack adequate coverage to carry them through such a catastrophe.

Where can these people turn in their time of need? According to Richard Rogers, Owner of THTT, LLC., they should consider turning to friends, colleagues, community and even to perfect strangers. To help facilitate this process, his firm has recently launched a new portal for charitable giving called PeopleInNeed.com. “After several personal losses, I created People In Need as a way of helping others in their time of need,” said Rogers. “There are other sites out there, but they all take a portion of your donations. We just don’t think that’s fair. If someone uses our site and doesn’t click on any ads then we don’t make any money. We don’t take a dime from anyone’s donations,” he said.

“The fact is, any one of us could find ourselves in need at any given moment…from being burned out of a house to losing a family member or needing to treat a beloved sick pet,” Rogers said. “Of course, need doesn’t always have to be born from tragedy, either”, said Rogers. “People In Need is also a great fundraising site for those looking to make a difference in their communities or even to make someone’s dreams come true.”
