SlimLipo™ Laser Liposuction Reduces Complications of Fat Reduction Surgery

Dermatology Associates of Atlanta adds SlimLipo™ to the menu of non-invasive fat reduction procedures and hosts Coolsculpting® event to educate patients on fat reduction and skin tightening options

Drs. Edmond Griffin and Scott Karempelis have performed Atlanta liposuction since 1986; over two decades of fat reduction surgery experience serving tens of thousands of patients allows these Atlanta dermatologists to stay ahead of the dermatology technology curve to provide the most effective body contouring procedures available including the newest, minimally invasive procedures SlimLipo™ and Coolsculpting®.

The first practice in Georgia to introduce the Coolsculpting® procedure last fall, Dermatology Associates’ cosmetic specialty center, Atlanta Cosmetic Surgery Center will host A Cool Night Out Wednesday, September 21st to educate current and potential patients on the cosmetic uses of Coolsculpting® fat reduction. The free event will feature a live Coolsculpting® demonstration, raffle for $750 worth of the highly publicized “freeze the fat” procedure (also known as Cryolipolysis™ by Zeltiq), and an expert panel to answer questions about this and other fat reduction procedures. Those who plan to attend are asked to RSVP to Philip Gillette by calling (404) 256-4457 ext. 248 or emailing marketing(at)dermatlanta(dot)com.

For areas of more substantial fat than suitable for Coolsculpting®, DAA is now offering FDA approved laser lipolysis method SlimLipo™. This procedure uses two laser wavelengths of light: one targets and liquefies unwanted fat cells for removal through tiny metal tubes (micro cannulas), the other heats and contracts the collagen fibers in the treatment area(s) to tighten the lax skin left after excess fat cells are removed. Traditionally only accomplished through a series of cosmetic procedures, one designed to remove fat and the other to trim excess skin, SlimLipo™ produces a slimmer, tighter silhouette with just one treatment and half the downtime (typically 2-3 weeks) associated with similar body plastic surgery procedures. Additionally, SlimLipo™ patients are typically able to return to work within two to three days.

Different from other laser liposuction methods like SmartLipo™, Dermatology Associates of Atlanta’s SlimLipo™ laser technology has the distinct ability to target the fat cells within the treatment area instead of the body’s water molecules like other laser fat reduction technology does. Dr. Griffin comments on the procedure’s ability, “The precision of SlimLipo™ technology makes this fat reduction procedure an excellent option for those patients seeking very specific refinement such as those with isolated, small to moderate amounts of excess fat on the hips, thighs, arms, legs, even neck as well as those who’ve previously had liposuction, but desire further smoothing than previous technology was able to offer.”

Dr. Karempelis adds, “SlimLipo™ is an adaptable fat reduction procedure that is perfect for those individuals who desire noticeable fat reduction results without the six weeks of recovery time that more traditional methods can require.”

SlimLipo™ is one of five body contouring procedures available on the cosmetic treatment menu at Dermatology Associates of Atlanta. Others include Exilis skin tightening, Coolsulpting® fat reduction, fat transfer, and traditional tumescent liposuction. Because all of the methods available serve certain cosmetic issues better than others, Drs. Griffin and Karempelis use platforms such as their blog and social media profiles to disseminate information on the procedures’ uses as it becomes available.
