Known as an athletic resort, ClubSport has embarked on what it’s calling ‘Operation Game Changer,’ a remodeling project that will enhance the club’s Edge Performance Training Center to include a High Altitude Training Center and a Computrainer® studio for cyclists.
General Manager, Jarod Cogswell, who has led the club for over 12 years says, “The fitness industry is changing at a rapid pace and our team is focused on leading that change by providing our members with technology that can dramatically improve their fitness levels.”
The High Altitude Training chamber developed by Hypoxico®, the leaders in altitude training, is a place where everyday athletes can experience the benefits of training at elevation. Altitude training, also known as hypoxic training, involves exercising in oxygen reduced air for the purpose of improved athletic performance, pre-acclimatization to altitude and/or physical wellness. Traditionally, individuals had to travel to or live at high elevations to obtain these benefits. ClubSport members will now be able to exercise in simulated altitudes of up to 21,000 feet.
Serious cyclists will be able to reach peak performance in the new Computrainer studio. Cyclists can use their own road bike and select training rides that will simulate a variety of interesting routes including stages from The Tour de France.
Cogswell, along with Ralph Rajs, VP of Operations at Leisure Sports, Inc., owners and managers of ClubSport, researched multiple college and sports facilities before deciding on club improvements; their goal was to create a benchmark for fitness industry facilities.
“Our members are constantly striving to improve. We want to give them the best fitness options available and facilities and amenities they can’t get anywhere else,” Cogswell said.
Additional improvement will include a new sports performance strength training area, a stretch and core fitness area, and they will expand group fitness studios to meet the growing demand for group fitness classes. The remodel is underway and is expected to be completed mid-November.
