Mani Press announces the release of "Dreaming Bhutan: Journey in the Land of the Thunder Dragon” by award-winning author, teacher and Buddhist monk, Nicole Grace.
Accompanied by her guide, a friend and Aide de Camp to the Royal Family for over three decades, Grace was allowed unusual access to monasteries, temples and other private domains within this ancient realm that she describes as “a cross between the mythical lands of Shangri-La and Brigadoon.”
Through spare, poetic commentary, and dreamlike photographs of her travels, readers will experience a rare journey into the Land of the Thunder Dragon.
“This book is not intended to be, nor is it, a detailed guide or reference book for travel or study. Like waking from a rare, exquisite dream, and finding yourself reliving its charms in vivid flashes, I have attempted to capture a few precious moments,” explains Grace in the introduction to the book.
Her Majesty Ashi Kesang Choeden Wangchuck, The Royal Grandmother of Bhutan and mother of Bhutan’s beloved fourth King writes in the Foreword, “'Dreaming Bhutan' is a beautiful book, conveying the great pristine beauty, peace and serenity of our sacred Buddhist kingdom.”
In her review of “Dreaming Bhutan” in the September 2011 issue, Vision Magazine’s editor, Sydney Murray, writes, “The photography is stunning and truly remarkable. The colors, the vistas, the descriptions offered of sacred rituals are illuminating and inspiring….Grace's words are both powerful in their brevity as well as delicate in their movement. Reading her words was almost a meditation. There is such strength and, yes, grace in them, and they were a balm on my soul…I can only tell you that the many people who have learned from and been inspired by Nicole Grace will not be disappointed. This book is a work of art."
