Bill Amejka, founder of Answers Executive Coaching, will in October and November teach Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) and discuss how to best build relationships and set goals in “Teen STEPS (Skills to Empower, Prepare & Succeed).” Teen STEPS is a seven-week program produced by an organization serving economically disadvantaged residents of Palo Alto, Calif.

Answers Executive Coaching expanded to work with teens so the great majority of their lives will be spent being happy and productive.

“Teen STEPS (Skills to Empower, Prepare & Succeed),” a seven-week, fall program produced by the Palo Alto Housing Corporation’s Resident Services Program, has recruited Bill Amejka, founder of Answers Executive Coaching, LLC, to lead workshops in October and November focused on eliciting inspiration in and enhancing the life skills of Palo Alto residents ages 14 to 18. Mr. Amejka will make use of Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) exercises he employs daily with Answers Executive Coaching clients around the world.

Mr. Amejka will be giving 2 of the program’s 7 presentations. The knowledge and insights he will share are focused on communication skills, relationship-building and goal-setting. He will share his experiences preparing for college and graduate school, working for Accenture, BMG Music, DreamWorks and Paramount Pictures and traveling and living abroad -- all of which involve his “Focus on the life you want” outlook on life.

The program structure includes hands-on experience. Participants will be assigned activities to prepare for each workshop, and the information gained from each workshop will be applicable to real-life situations.

“Answers Executive Coaching understands the importance of and need for inspiring and educating young people,” Mr. Amejka said. “Our approach of making learning really fun has been employed successfully by many adults who wanted to make significant changes in their lives. No matter what age, people can learn new things -- so long as it is an enjoyable process. Of course, it is best to understand sooner in life that you have control over how you think and feel. That's why we expanded to work with teens -- so the great majority of their lives will be spent being happy and productive."

“We can’t wait to bring the life tools presented by Bill and our other presenters to our teens through the STEPS program this fall,” Kate Young, director of resident services at the Palo Alto Housing Corporation, said. “Becoming an adult presents many unknowns and challenges. We hope to give them some guidance on the practical stuff and fill them with a sense of excitement about the many opportunities in front of them.”

The “Teen STEPS” program is of particular appeal to Mr. Amejka, he said, “because many of the adults I have assisted in making big changes in their lives have said, ‘I wish they would have taught me this in school!’ or ‘NLP be something every child needs to know.’ Coaching can be a valuable tool to any teen. By understanding how they learn, what motivates them and how to enjoy life while accomplishing goals, children can achieve high levels of satisfaction in all areas of their lives, starting now. This includes not only school and places of employment but also home -- the one provided by their parents and the one they will make for themselves."

Topics that Answers Executive Coaching will cover in the program include active listening, reading body language, setting SMART goals, the importance of deadlines and rewarding accomplishments.
