Orlando, FL (PRWEB) September 19, 2011
Studio K, (http://www.studiokorlando.com), an entertainment studio featuring the largest offering of dance and dance fitness classes for adults in Central Florida, a team of leading photographers, and a national public relations agency, has been selected as a finalist in the Pepsi Refresh Project® (http://www.refresheverything.com/studiokorlando), a global initiative used to provide grant funding to individuals and organizations that are setting out to “refresh the world” with a unique and innovative contribution to the community at large.
After being selected by Pepsi®, finalists are then placed in an online feature for a one-month period of public voting. Those with the highest number of votes are then eligible to win grant funding from $5,000 to $50,000, in the four categories of: Arts & Music, Education, Communities and Pepsi Challenge.
Studio K has been placed in the category of Arts & Music and is eligible for a $25,000 grant. The Studio K idea selected is for the Central Florida entertainment corporation to use 100 percent of the funding to create an entertainment production highlighting the areas the company focuses on including dance and photography, as well as opening up to the full arts community in vocal, theater and orchestral performance, traditional art and more. The showcase would only utilize Central Florida talent in an effort to bring awareness to the strong pool of individuals within the Central Florida community, and to enhance the arts presence of the state of Florida as a whole.
The showcase will also further contribute to the economic development of the local entertainment industry and a portion of the proceeds would be donated to the Dizzy Feet Foundation (http://www.dizzyfeetfoundation.org). Dizzy Feet is an organization founded in 2009 by producer Nigel Lythgoe, director Adam Shankman, “Dancing with the Stars” judge Carrie Ann Inaba, and actress Katie Holmes to help underprivileged young people realize their dream of becoming professional dancers and to support, improve, and increase access to dance education in the United States.
This October will mark Studio K’s one –year anniversary, and since that time, the Studio has been recognized both locally and nationally for its efforts, and has housed five major Hollywood initiatives from LA to Orlando, as well as has created a variety of corporate national partnerships. “Being selected for the Pepsi Refresh Project and being given an opportunity to receive potential funding to help further benefit the arts community in Central Florida is just amazing,” said Owner and CEO of Studio K, Kristin Weissman.
“Studio K was created to bring a unique new offering within the local arts and entertainment community, while also having a national impact. We strive to bring the community together in dance and the arts, highlight the talent residing here, and provide an outlet for adults to find that connection to their passion for the arts and to each other. Whether we win or we lose, the Pepsi Corporation is shining a bright light on Studio K’s daily efforts and we could not be more grateful.”
