After having established ESTC as a perfectly working hub for future Internet technologies, its sale is a logical step towards the development of new ventures, said Alexander Wahler, CEO of STI International
(PRWEB) September 21, 2011
The scientific association Semantic Technology Institute International (“STI International”) has sold the trade show and related assets of the European Semantic Technology Conference (“ESTC”) to the blog network Mediabistro.com, a division of WebMediaBrands Inc. The most influential European conference on applied semantic technology is now a valuable addition to the impressive portfolio of Mediabistro.com in this area – the blog network inter alia owns SemTech San Francisco and is planning further SemTech conferences in the U. S. and Europe. In February 2012, the follow-up of ESTC will be held in Berlin, Germany. From STI International’s point of view, the sale demonstrates the association’s success in its mission to promote and disseminate the use of semantic technologies.
ESTC has taken place in Vienna, Austria, annually since 2007 and has in that period become an important forum for scientists, technologists and practitioners working on semantic technology. The associated trade show has become the largest focusing on Semantic Technology in Europe. “After having established ESTC as a perfectly working hub for future Internet technologies, its sale is a logical step towards the development of new ventures”, said Alexander Wahler, CEO of STI International. Nevertheless, Wahler, ESTC co-founder and former chair John Davies and their team will continue as consultants to the SemTech conference series to secure the ongoing success of these conferences and trade shows. John Davies added “It has been an enjoyable challenge to found ESTC and to establish it as a leading European conference in the area. The time is now right to give WebMediaBrands the opportunity to apply their skills and expertise to take the show to the next level”.
